Portsdown Scientific distributes and provides support for instrumentation from the following manufacturers:
Scienta Omicron was formed by the merger of two of the most renowned companies in the field of vacuum surface science: Omicron Nano-Technology and VG Scienta.
The company provides advanced solutions to the research community in the fields of electron spectroscopy, scanning probe microscopy and thin film deposition.
Dr. Eberl MBE-Komponenten manufactures thin film deposition equipment for MBE, surface science and other UHV applications.
Products comprise, effusion cells, including organic material effusion cells, electron beam evaporators, gas sources and various customized equipment. Specialised sources include SUKO and SUSI for C and Si sublimation respectively; DECO, a GaP decomposition source and valved crackers for S, Se, As, etc.
UHV Design is a specialist manufacturer of motion and heating products for the UHV environment. They set the standards for innovative product development in the vacuum industry. UHV Design is happy to offer customisations to meet specific customer requests.
The Multicentre XL-T230range includes MagiDrive rotary drives; PowerProbe magnetic sample transfer arm; linear shift mechanisms; MultiCentre X-Y-Z sample manipulators; EpiCentre range of deposition stages with substrate heating and rotation.
Established in 1990, Focus designs and manufactures products for electron spectroscopy (CSA, PEEM, VUV sources) as well as electron beam evaporators (EFM series), and ion sources. Their EFM evaporators (such as the EFM3, right) are very popular in surface science research labs and over 1000 have been sold. Other products include laser and electron beam welding.
RBD Instruments started as a service company, dedicated to the support of PHI surface science equipment. They now expanded their mission to bring a range of innovative and affordable products to the materials science community. They offer the IG2 low-cost ion source for sample cleaning, a compact cylindrical mirror analyser (CMA) for Auger electron spectroscopy, a USB Picoammeter and UV and IR water-vapour desorption products for improved vacuum and pumpdown.
Ionautics specialises in High-Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HiPIMS). This technique produces thin-films with improved properties (smoother, denser…). Ionautics produces the necessary hardware to convert standard DC sputtering systems to HiPIMS. The HiPSTER pulser is able to drive exisitng DC power supplies. Ionautics also provides a range of coatings (DLC, ITO, etc.) produced by the HiPIMS method and is eager to collaborate or provide the R&D capability to develop new coatings on behalf of customers. Ionautics is hence well-qualified to offer extensive technical support to assist customers to get started with HiPIMS technology.
The Extorr XT residual gas analyzer (RGA) is a quadrupole mass spectrometer complete with a built-in Pirani gauge and Ion gauge. Hence it provides both total pressure measurement as well as the partial pressure of individual gases. The XT RGA models are available in 100, 200 and 300 amu packages with a high sensitivity electron multiplier detector as an option. All models mount to a 2.75″ CF flange and include PC software.
ITL Vacuum Components manufactures a full range of competitively priced Conflat, KF and ISO flanges and components as well as providing custom fabrications and vacuum chambers. ITL also offers a wide range of common accessories for the vacuum lab – valves, bellows, tubing, gaskets, nuts & bolts, O-rings, etc.
Torr was established in 1998 and operates under two main divisions: Vacuum Optics offering a full range of UHV viewports, AR coated optics and general vacuum products; and X-Ray and Electron-Optical (XEO) offering surface analysis instruments and products for synchrotron applications.
